Cub Creek - RMNP

Cub Creek campground is an easy 2 mile hike through a mostly flat open valley from the Cub Creek trailhead. There is only one site overlooking Moraine Park.
Permits to camp in the park cost $25 but can extend for as many days and as many people as requested. Most sites hold a maximum of 7 people.
We hiked to Bierstadt Lake, 3.5-4 miles away but only about a mile from the road.
The area has significant burns from the Fern Lake Fire in 2012.
The lake offers a great view of Long's Peak and many of the peaks along the continental divide.
I highly recommend planning to return to camp about 1 hour before sunset. The views looking down on Cub Lake are fantastic.

The Alpine Visitors Center is always a treat to visit, although often crowded. It can be a good place to spot wildlife lower down in the valley. There were two marmots at the top on this trip.
